Friends of The State Theatre

The Friends of the State Theatre is an organization of volunteers committed to preserving and revitalizing the historic State Theatre of Stoughton for dance, music, theatrical performances, visual art, literary readings and film events for the benefit of the community residents and visitors.

The mission of the Friends of State Theatre is to restore and operate this historic atmospheric Vaudeville theatre for the benefit of the community and to provide a much-needed economic boost to downtown Stoughton. This project directly aligns with our mission and the upgrading/rehabilitating of the facility directly relates to our overall organizational and strategic plan. With a newly-revitalized State Theatre, Stoughton will become a cultural destination, and attract residents from across region and Greater Boston, and tourists from across Massachusetts and New England, thus stimulating our local and regional economies and bringing foot traffic into the downtown. Moreover, this dynamic multidisciplinary arts center will become a centerpiece of culture in our town and help improve the lives of the young people in our region by engaging them directly in the arts-enjoying theatrical, musical, dance, multicultural and literary performances on a routine basis
